fear of being a bridesmaidAh, you're a bridesmaid!

You've heard all of the horror stories about how expensive it can be, how your dear friend will turn into a brideszilla, and this will be a true test to your friendship.

It's not that bad! In fact, it's not bad at all. It's what you make of it, so fear not.

There are a lot of fears about being a bridesmaid, so we wanted to share some of our favorites.

A list of the most popular reasons people fear being a bridesmaid

  • I have to wear an ugly dress
This one you might not be able to get out of. It's up to the bride to decide what you might have to wear for the wedding day. Yes, it might be ugly and it might not look that great on you. It doesn't really matter though. Everyone will be looking at her. The only catch is if you have to buy a dress that you hate and that you'll never wear again. That can feel like you're lossing money. If you feel like it's way out of budget for you, speak up. No reason for you to break the bank!

  • I'm nervous about the bridezilla thing
Who wouldn't be scared of a bridezilla? That name sounds terrifying in itself. You first have to remember that this bridezilla that we are discussing is your friend or family member, and this is one of the craziest times in their life. Some brides can handle the pressure really well and are extremely organized, and then there are the others that get overwhelmed. This can all be avoided if you can help out your friend and remind her that everyone has their own stuff going on. The world keeps spinning and she keeps planning, so the world does not revolve around her. Be patient and understanding, but remind her of what really matters- the special day when she's getting married! That's what it's all about.

  • There goes my bank account!
Some weddings are affordable and others are far from it. Expect to spend money and set a budget. You know that you'll be in the wedding, so don't spend money on things that will also stress you out with costs. What we mean by this is try not to do as much personal shopping as you usually do and maybe set some money aside. If you are on a tight budget, give the bride a heads up!

  • Uh, who else is going to be in the bridal party?
This one is a little tricky. You can't love everyone! Sometimes there are going to be people in the bridal party that you don't fully enjoy their company. This one you will have to suck up. Remember, it's not like you have to spend the rest of your life with them. It's only a few times that you have to hang out together. Who knows, you may learn to like them for the same reasons the bride-to-be does.

Have no fear! Being a bridesmaid should be fun. You're your own person, so be true to yourself and speak up if your fears are coming true.
